Dr. Etienne Venter is a registered clinical psychologist with specialized training in the area of neuropsychological assessments. He has over 20 years of experience, evaluating the psychological well-being of children, adolescents and adults for various treatment and intervention purposes. Dr. Venter obtained his doctorate degree from Rand Afrikaans University (now known as the University of Johannesburg) in 1993 and subsequently completed his internship at the Clinical Neuropsychology Medical University of South Africa, Ga-Rankuwa Hospital and Rand Afrikaans University.
Dr. Venter was involved in the behavioural and clinical assessment, support and management of adults and children with neurodevelopmental disabilities at the Developmental Disabilities Association in Vancouver and Richmond. He was a Clinical Consultant and Neuropsychologist for Correctional Services of Canada in Abbotsford, BC, assessing and treating individuals with major mental disorders and severe personality disorders as a part of a multidisciplinary team. He also conducted risk assessment of incarcerated violent and sexual offenders.
At HeadWise Rehabilitation, Dr. Venter provides neuropsychological vocational assessments of people with neurocognitive difficulties for the purpose of identifying barriers to employment. As a part of HeadWise Rehabilitation’s partnership with Back in Motion, Dr. Venter also conducts intake assessments of people with head injuries for the HIATS Program.
